Starting a Case

This demo allows the opportunity to file a complaint in one of three categories: Union Action, Group Action or Individual. Microsearch understands that different unions will have different grievance categories and steps, which is why each GTS.NET system is customized to suit your organizational needs.

The following steps are for starting a case for an individual grievant:

  1. From the home page click on the "Start Case" tab. You will get a page with three checkboxes.
  2. Click on the checkbox labeled "Individual". A control with three dropdown lists becomes visible with only the top dropdown list labeled "Bargaining Unit" enabled.
  3. From the dropdown list labeled "Bargaining Unit", select the "MORSE INDUSTRIES" bargaining unit.
  4. Once the "MORSE INDUSTRIES" unit has been selected, the dropdown list labeled "Filing Representative" should become active. From this list, select "Jim Blizzard".
  5. Once a filing representative has been selected, the dropdown list labeled "Local Steward" becomes active. From this dropdown list, select "Jack Marisumo".
  6. On selecting a local steward, a control consisting of two textboxes, two checkboxes and a button labeled "Search" should become visible. These controls enable you to search for your existing members assigned to this bargaining unit by first name, last name or a combination of both. For now we want to retrieve all the members, so just click on the search button without typing anything into the textboxes.
  7. A grid containing the names of all members assigned to this bargaining unit becomes visible. Select the user "Harold Lloyd" by clicking on the "Select" link beside his name.


  8. On doing this, the grid disappears and the name is automatically filled into the textboxes. Click on the start case button, at the bottom left of your screen, to start a case for this member.
  9. A new page containing grievance information will show up. Fill in the details as appropriate. Note that some fields are required. You must select an incident date, file a statement of grievance and select a primary issue category. These required fields are located in the "Detailed Information" section. First, scroll down to this section and click on the calander icon to the right of the incident date textbox to choose an incident date.


  10. Now you have selected a date, go to the "Statement of Grievance" textbox and type in details about your grievance.
  11. Now scroll down to the dropdown list labeled "Primary Issues" and select the appropriate issue for the grievance.


  12. Finally, click on the "Update Case" button at the top of the page. This submits your grievance to the database.


  13. Please note after clicking "Update Case" you will remain on your grievance form page rather than be sent back to the home page.
